How-to: Bleach & Tone From Home

No matter what hair color you’re after or the application technique you're using, toning is everything when it comes to lightening your hair.

From adding diffusing hues to neutralizing unwanted tones, toning is the key to getting your desired hair color. That’s why when we created The Bleach 30 Volume Hair Lightening System, we infused it with Toning Violet Micro Pigment to counteract unwanted yellow or brassy tones that come with lightening.

But not all hair is made the same, and there may be times when you need extra support getting your hair where you want it to be. That’s where Overtone Toning Conditioners come into play to tone, hydrate, and correct your color while you shower.

Lighten Up With The Bleach

WHAT YOU NEED:

- The Bleach 30 Volume Hair Lightening System (comes with Bleach Powder, Bleach Developer, and Gloves)

- Overtone Toning Conditioner (Blue or Purple)

- Hair Starter Kit (comes with a Mixing Bowl, Mixing Brush, and Alligator Clips)

- Eco Coloring Cape

LIGHTEN WITH THE BLEACH

STEP 01:

Add The Bleach powder (1 part) and developer (2 parts) to the mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

STEP 02:

Section hair in small sections for easy application.

STEP 03:

Cover clothes with a towel or Eco Coloring Cape.

STEP 04:

Make sure to wear gloves before applying!

STEP 05:

Using the mixing brush, apply The Bleach to small sections starting at the top and working your way down.

STEP 06:

Fully saturate your strands to ensure full coverage and even lightening.

STEP 07:

Save your roots for last!

STEP 08:

Find a friend to help you complete the application process in the back. This is way easier than trying to do it yourself in a mirror.

PRO TIP: Do a scrape test to ensure your hair isn’t patchy.

STEP 09:

Wait 40 minutes max to let The Bleach do its thing. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm or cool water. Then let hair completely dry before assessing the need for extra toning.

Tone it Down with Toning Conditioner

STEP 10:

Apply a small palmful of Overtone Toning Conditioner to wet hair in the shower. Make sure to saturate your strands for maximum effect.

STEP 11:

Let sit for 2-3 minutes.

STEP 12:

Rinse, style, and show it off!

Which Toning Conditioner Should I Use?
