Leaping Bunny and PETA certified, Overtone Color Depositing Conditioner in Stormy Sterling is a pigmented daily conditioner designed to refresh, enhance, and maintain cool, smoky gray hair color while conditioning. It’s ideal for anyone who wants visible, salon-quality color at home without bleach or ammonia.
Stormy Sterling delivers a deeper, moodier silver-gray with charcoal undertones, perfect for neutralizing warmth, reviving faded color, and maintaining a modern, dimensional finish with a soft, smoky sheen between salon visits or full dye sessions.
This is a non-damaging, deposit-only formula with no lightening agents, so it adds color on top of your existing shade rather than lifting it. Color typically lasts about 3–5 days and can be reapplied as often as you like for ongoing tone correction, depth, and quick touch-ups.
Available in 35 shades including Royal Plum, Cherry Chestnut, Ginger Glow, Vivid Violet, and Espresso Brown it offers options ranging from subtle, natural-looking enhancement to bold, vivid tones. You can target brassy or uneven areas or apply root to tip for an all-over color refresh.
The formula combines conditioning agents (cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride, glycerin) with aloe barbadensis leaf juice to help hydrate, soften, and improve manageability. A blend of nourishing oils—including shea butter, coconut, jojoba, meadowfoam, linseed, sunflower, argan, and Abyssinian seed oil—helps smooth the hair surface, reduce frizz, and enhance shine for healthier-looking, more polished gray hair.

I dye my dark brown hair, that has greys growing rapidly, a light ash brown with highlights. The highights are to blend the greys in. It looks pretty cool, anyway I use overtone to tone down any brass or yellow I don't want. I use stormy for highlights. I think smoky sapphire for the brass. Not to much and I don't leave on that long. I keep it away from the highlights and mainly near my roots. Overtone is so much fun. I also really love all thier pinks.

My hair had never been colored or bleached, but when my natural brown began to sprout a whole lot of white hairs, the contrast was jarring. I didn't mind having gray hair, but pure white just didn't look good against all that brown. So I grabbed a jar of Stormy Silver hoping it might soak into the white hairs and make them look more gray, to blend better with the brown. It worked great! It colored the white hair a gorgeous metallic gray, and it also helped tone my natural color to the cool side of the spectrum. Now I have what I would describe as ombre hair: silver transitioning into brown. It looks really cool. I'm so happy with my gray glow-up!
Also, I use the product a little differently. Rather than use a bunch of it and then wait a week to reapply, I did my whole head once, and now I use a little every time I shower, as conditioner. It keeps the color looking perfect, and I haven't had to re-do my whole head at all.
