Leaping Bunny and PETA certified, Overtone Color Depositing Conditioner in Black Velvet is a pigmented daily conditioner designed to refresh, enhance, and maintain deep black hair color while conditioning. It’s ideal for anyone who wants visible, salon-quality color at home without bleach or ammonia.
Black Velvet delivers a rich, inky black with subtle cool undertones, perfect for deepening dark hair, restoring faded color, and enhancing shine with a sleek, high-gloss finish between salon visits or full dye sessions.
This is a non-damaging, deposit-only formula with no lightening agents, so it adds color on top of your existing shade rather than lifting it. Color typically lasts about 3–5 days and can be reapplied as often as you like for ongoing depth, richness, and quick touch-ups.
Available in 35 shades including Royal Plum, Cherry Chestnut, Ginger Glow, Vivid Violet, and Espresso Brown it offers options ranging from subtle, natural-looking enhancement to bold, vivid tones. You can target faded or uneven areas or apply root to tip for an all-over color refresh.
The formula combines conditioning agents (cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride, glycerin) with aloe barbadensis leaf juice to help hydrate, soften, and improve manageability. A blend of nourishing oils—including shea butter, coconut, jojoba, meadowfoam, linseed, sunflower, argan, and Abyssinian seed oil—helps smooth the hair surface, reduce frizz, and enhance shine for healthier-looking, more polished black hair.

After shampooing, apply evenly to wet hair where you want to enhance or refresh color, leave on for 3–5 minutes to allow pigment to deposit, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Color Note: Results will vary depending on your starting hair shade. While our Black Velvet hue delivers a deep blue-purple black on medium to dark hair, it may appear more vibrant and dimensional on lighter shades. If your hair is naturally blonde, highlighted, gray, or light brown, you may notice stronger blue and purple undertones rather than darker blue-purple black results. I had low lights and baby lights done last year to blend my white hairs. I leave the colour on for a few hours...I will say an hour at least. I cover my hair with a plastic shower cap and then a towel lined cap. Before I shower I blast my hair with my hairdryer for about 10 minutes focusing on the grey/white spots
Through this process my white get 90%. They turn a steel grey which blends into the black. My greys aren't covered but they are blended well. I have very dark brown hair so it looks with the steel grey parts after the colour there is less of a contrast.

This is my go-to color! I love how rich it is, and it even works on virgin hair—though you migh have to add a bit of green if you have red tones or a bit of orange or brown if your hair is really light or cool-toned. The good thing is, even if you get it wrong, another process with just black will most likely fix it.
