The Curly-Haired Girl's Guide To Pastel Silver Purple Hair Color
No matter what the season or what’s trending in the beauty-sphere, it’s safe to say that pastel hair colors will always have a main character moment. Our current fave shade? Pastel silver purple — something so undeniably cool never goes out of style. We love that this mix is one of this year’s most coveted hair shades and has color enthusiasts and beginner babes flocking to the hue in droves.
Aside from looking cute and elevating your vibe, pastel silver purple is extra popular since it’s easy to DIY and looks great on just about everyone. And now, you can get the look from home with this easy step-by-step at-home hair color tutorial. Watch @jeneen_sahtout elevate her curls to gorgeous proportions using a mix of Pastel Silver and Pastel Purple to get the ethereal locks of her dreams.
STEP 01: Mix your colors.
For the custom pastel silver purple color, @jeneen_sahtout added about 2 parts Pastel Silver and 1 part Pastel Purple to the first mixing bowl. Her goal was to achieve a silver-blended sheen shade with a touch of purple.
STEP 02: Section off clean, dry hair.
@jeneen_sahtout sectioned off her curls by tying the top layer of hair in a bun and focusing on the bottom layer, working her way up. This method is perfect for her voluminous curls.
STEP 03: Apply color to small sections of hair, starting at the roots and working your way to the ends. Make sure each strand is completely saturated with conditioner for maximum color effect.
NOTE: @jeneen_sahtout started with the idea of doing a multi-shade effect by coloring one curl at a time with Pastel Silver, Pastel Purple, and then her custom pastel silver-purple mix.
STEP 04: Once completely saturated, let the color sit for 10-15 minutes.
STEP 05: Wash, style, and reveal. And most importantly, enjoy the results.
This luminescent shade of silver purple is on the sheer side of pastel hair colors, and it’s one of our favorite light and airy glow-ups. What we love about this trend is that since fading and imperfections are part of the pastel appeal, it’s easier to get this look from home.
“With curly hair, if it doesn’t look even, it’s okay because it’s curly, and you can’t really tell.” — @jeneen_sahtout
We are especially fond of curls, kinks, and coils sporting this hue due to the dynamic nature of the type and texture in contrast with the color. And since our products are Coloring Conditioners and not dyes, you can hydrate and nourish your curls while you color, which is an idea for textured hair.
“I like oVertone because it’s a semi-permanent color, but it’s a Coloring Conditioner — and you guys know I don’t even use shampoo. So that’s why I love this. You get to color your hair and treat it at the same time. It’s not damaging at all. It’s just amazing, especially if you have curly hair.” — @jeneen_sahtout
This tutorial proves this pastel shade is a flattering, season-proof choice. Mix it up for an eye-catching hue, or use Pastel Silver or Pastel Purple on their own for a gorgeous, low-maintenance look that’s guaranteed to turn heads.
