I'm curious about whether my experience with Overtone is typical. I experience a great deal of color change/fading, and I'd like to know if there's anything I should be doing differently. Overtone was the product that finally convinced me to bleach my virgin, light brown hair out to platinum and rock a fantasy color, but it's not what I expected.
The go deep weekly treatment always results in solid, vibrant teal, but by the next day I'm always missing patches of pigment and the color is noticeably faded. I don't use styling products or heat-style (which sometimes results in interesting hair days!). By about halfway through the week, my hair is blue-silver or lilac. I use the daily conditioner daily or every second day, saturate my hair, and wait five minutes plus to rinse. I shampoo every two to three days, with a sulfate free shampoo. I always use daily conditioner after a shampoo.
I thought I might try another color to see if it held up better, but I hesitate to drop another $50 on product that might not work well for me - especially if I haven't heard from the unicorns who might have helped make this a better experience.
Overtone Pros: Beautiful color upon initial application, smells great, did not transfer to sheets/clothes/shower/cats/skin. Stray bits that got onto my skin washed off easily. Leaves my hair feeling great.
