What is the difference between Coloring and Daily Conditioner?

oVertone Daily Conditioners are made to help maintain your shade in between color applications. Use them in the shower for an easy color refresh, in 3 mins or less.

How long does it last?

Because it is a semi-permanent hair color, oVertone may leave a subtle, permanent tint. 

Before coloring, do a strand test to see what your color will look like and how long it will last on your hair. Learn how to do it here!

Do I need to bleach first?

If your hair is dark brown or black and you want vivid results—you’ll need to pre-lighten in order to achieve bold or noticeable color payoff. 

If you’re unsure a color will work on your hair, do a strand test before applying.

What results can I expect based on my starting shade? 

Color results will vary depending on your starting shade, hair porosity, and the specific pigment intensity of the color you choose. 

Overall, here’s what you can expect:  

Light to Medium Blonde Hair: 
You’ll see bold, vivid, true-to-tone results across all shades. Pastel colors show up beautifully on light to medium blonde hair, delivering vibrant yet soft color payoff, while deeper hues create high-impact, saturated results with long-lasting vibrancy. 

Dark Blonde to Light Brown Hair: 
Expect glossy, vibrant, dimensional color with our darker shades, and a soft, tonal radiance with pastel and lighter shades. Results enhance your natural depth while adding vibrancy and light-catching shine. 

Medium to Dark Brown Hair: 
Enjoy a rich, multi-dimensional tint that enhances your natural tone with reflective, glossy color. Highly pigmented shades add warmth or balance undertones for visible color in the light. For medium to dark brown starting shades, we recommend pre-lightening before applying pastel or lighter shades to achieve noticeable results. Pre-lightening also helps create a brighter, bolder transformation for any color. 

Black Hair: 
Because semi-permanent color is deposit-only and does not liftpre-lightening is needed to achieve visible color results. Lightening to a brown or blonde base will allow pigments to fully show their tone and vibrancy.

Why do color results vary? 

Your hair’s porosity, damage level, and existing color all affect how pigment absorbs. More porous or pre-lightened hair tends to grab color faster and appear brighter, while healthy, low-porosity hair may show softer or more muted tones. 

Can I expect gray blending and coverage? 

Gray hair often has a tighter, more resistant cuticle that makes color absorption less consistent. While some individuals may see a soft tint and partial gray blending, semi-permanent color is deposit-only and not meant for full gray coverage.

General delivery times:

Processing: 1-3 business days

Standard U.S. Shipping: 7-12 business days

Express Shipping: 2-5 business days

USPS Priority Shipping: 7–12 business days (AK, HI, and Puerto Rico only) 

Standard International Shipping: Up to 25 business days.

What is oVertone’s return policy?

For other returns: 

- Refund requests must be submitted through our returns page within 15 days of delivery

- Requests submitted 16–60 days after delivery are eligible for store credit only

- Refunds only apply to items that have been purchased through overtone.co

- The original shipping cost is non-refundable, as it is considered a completed part of the order process.

- We will provide a shipping label. Please note, there may be a shipping and handling fee of $5.95 deducted from your refund or store credit for the following reasons: changed my mind or ordered the wrong item.
