When I first heard about overtone I was skeptical. I'd been dying my hair for years and there have been "color safe" shampoo and conditioners on the market for years now. I can remember when I did red and even the salon brand color safe shampoo didn't seem to help much. But I'd been hearing a lot of great things about overtone so I thought it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Now a little background, I use Manic Panic hair dye for my color so your results could vary if you use different brands such as Artic Fox or Ion.
First of all, the conditioner smells FANTASTIC. Very much along the lines of peppermint and tea tree oil. I'm not sure if it's just this color or if it's all over tone products, but it's definitely a huge bonus! My husband loves the smell of mint so he's over the moon to have my hair smell like that.
Secondly, it doesn't seem to stain even though it warns that it might.
Thirdly, unlike most conditioners it doesn't leave your hair feeling heavy. It almost feels like you don't use conditioner at all, so if you want a sleek feeling after I suggest pairing it with your regular hair products, I use silk drops.
Fourthly, the color restoration properties are PHENOMENAL! It's really made a huge difference. My color had gotten a little streaky and faded and it completely evened out the streaks and brightened the muddy areas. Excellent product, definitely might have to give the deep conditioner a try next.
