@julzjones Embraces Orange
When artist and influencer Julie Jones (@julzjones) decided to apply oVertone to their curly hair, they went all-in with creative expression, but started slow with the intensity of their hair color.

Name:
Julie Jones
About Me:
I’m a restaurant manager with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. I also have a natural hair page on Instagram where I love giving curly haired women inspiration for hairstyles and healthy hair maintenance.
When was the first time you used oVertone?
I first used oVertone about a year ago when I wanted to add a little dimension to my color treated hair. I got some highlights that I didn’t like so I decided to spice up my ends by adding the Vibrant Orange Coloring Conditioner to my auburn color treated hair.
What were you most nervous about before you used it?
I was nervous it was going to be too bright! I had never had a bold hair color before. I thought my hair would be neon and I would hate it but I learned to adjust the amount of product I was using to get the results I was looking for.
Did anything surprise you during your first application?
I loved how moisturizing it was. It feels way more like a conditioner than a hair dye.
How did your results turn out?
They turned out great! I loved the dimension it added to the ends of my curls.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
When I originally picked my color I went with Vibrant Orange because I was afraid of my results being too bright but I wish I would’ve gone with Extreme Orange originally! It gave me a longer lasting color and matched better with my auburn color treated hair.
What was your favorite and least favorite part about the process?
My favorite part is just how excited I get for the color! I get so excited to style my hair to see the finished result. My least favorite part is staining my hands because I’m stubborn and don’t want to wear gloves. Haha (don’t be like me).
What sets oVertone apart from other hair coloring products used?
I love that I don’t have to worry about the potential of damaging my curls! I love to switch up my look but the health of my hair comes first.
How does your hair contribute to your identity?
I’m an artist so the way I present myself from my hair and makeup to the outfit I wear has always been important to me. What I do with my hair shows the world how creative I am without even having to open my mouth.
What is the #1 piece of advice you would give first time oVertone users?
To not be afraid to use it! It’s not going to damage your hair and it’s not permanent. If you don’t get the results you’re looking for you can always grab a different shade and try again!
