Maegan and I are big nerds - we love us some Sci-Fi/Fantasy work.  Doctor Who to Firefly to Guardians of the Galaxy, we are SO. IN.  We've been having some big geek out sessions recently and wanted to share with you guys our favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Characters of late!

Leading off...

Leeloo of course!  Our favorite Multi-Pass carrying savior, Leeloo is one badass chick.  Besides her obviously superior ass-kicking skills, Leeloo is compassionate, has a seemingly endless ability to absorb and learn information, makes informed decisions, isn't ashamed of nakedness, and wears some pretty disturbingly awesome fashion throughout the movie.  On top of all that, there is just NO denying that hair (Vibrant Orange peeps represent!).

Next up we have...

Gamora - pictured here in Guardians of the Galaxy.  Telepathy, huge ability with a wide range of weaponry, gymnast, assassin...the list goes on!  Don't mess with this chick, and certainly don't underestimate her.  Also one to think for herself, she displays high levels of "don't-screw-with-me" determination, unabashed pride at her skill, and isn't afraid to show exactly how dangerous she can be.  And again, with the hair...who are we kidding, that's AWESOME right there.

And now we present...

River-Freaking-Song.  Our favorite enigmatic-wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey-spoiler-free psychopath from the one and only Doctor Who.  Another ass kicker, River Song plays a lot of different emotional roles.  She's in love, she's independent, she's firm, determined, loyal, brilliant, and a devoted family member.  We love her multi-facetedness as a character, and how she develops and grows through the series.

Up Next...

Kaylee, from Firefly and Serenity.  This girl's got a way with machines like no other.  A bubbly, excitable, postive-thinking chick, Kaylee can save you from Reavers (in a multitude of ways), keep your boat in the sky, love deeply, lust strongly, really enjoy a solid strawberry, and at the end of the day can wear the crap out of that pink froofy cake dress.

Calling in...

Uhura, our favorite Star Trek Lieutenant and communications officer. Capable, independent, and eco-friendly (Save all the Whales!), Uhura's character was definitely uncharted territory at the time of Star Trek's television premier.  She works diligently and excels where needed, whether that's the helm, navigation, or lead science station on the Enterprise.  Uhura's bravery is only matched by actress Nichelle Nichols for her continued perseverance with the role and the show, changing the TV scape forever (for the better!).

Another favorite...

(Art Credit) Tonks, from Harry Potter!  Spritely, imperfect, determined, loving, and silly, we love Tonks for her ability to take life a little less seriously, especially during dark times.  A passionate activist (I mean, what else would you call The Order of the Phoenix?), but still quick to give herself a pigs nose in the name of a couple of laughs, rubbish at chore charms but quick and talented, Tonks is a fabulous character we're proud to include in our list.  And be honest - we're all totally jealous of her ability to grow pink hair out of her head.  Ever.  Evil metamorphagus capabilities.

Obviously this is the super-short list...we didn't even include Hermione, River from Firefly/Serenity, Zoe from Firefly/Serenity, Buffy, or many of our other favorites.

But that's enough about us...who are your favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy folks?  Share in the comments!

We spent our entire childhood watching Voyager (including putting on a play) and no shout out to B’Elanna, Janeway, Seven of Nine…?
